Many must not be aware of the presence of the iconic Kartik Swami Temple in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district, which is supposed to be over 200 years old! To make sure that people recognize approximately this ancient place, the Uttarakhand Tourism Department has decided to develop the temple to woo tourists and devotees from south India.

Importance of the temple

The temple holds immense religious and cultural significance as it's by far the handiest shrine in Uttarakhand dedicated to Lord Kartikeya. For those who aren't aware of the mythology, Kartikeya was the elder son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He is prayed as Skand or Murugun in the south.

Location

The temple is some forty km from Rudraprayag. To reach here, devotees need to trek around three km from Kanakchauri village. The trek is not clean but is truly amazing and worth each sweat!

Talking about the mythological significance of the temple, Satpal Maharaj, tourism minister of Uttarakhand stated, “Kartik Swamy temple has immense religious importance according to the Hindu mythology as it's far here Lord Kartikeya, irritated at his mother and father Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for favoring their different son Lord Ganesha when each has been asked to circumnavigate the earth, presented his bones because of the testimony of his devotion.”

He in addition stated that they're centered on attracting vacationers from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka through growing this temple. Kartik Swamy temple has been out of the tourism map for a long time and now's the high time to broaden and sell this ancient temple.

Poonam Chand, additional director, of the tourism department, stated that their attention is now on selling Kartik Swamy temple and other circuits and numerous promotional campaigns are being made this winter to draw travelers.
