Adventure tourism offers enormous untapped potential in the Northeast region, which may support the regional economy and increase local employment by creating an ecosystem of related economic activity. This was just mentioned in a news release from the Indian Army.

While there are innumerable initiatives becoming brought out by personal state governments of each state in this regard, the Indian Army has made a concerted, synergized, and integrated effort through a series of adventure activities across most of the border regions, from Sikkim to nearly the Easternmost tip of Arunachal Pradesh.

According to the press release, the highlight of the aforementioned program was the Civil-Military cooperation in aggressively promoting adventure travel throughout Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh in hard locations that were not well known until this point.

According to sources, as part of the plan, the Army also began a three-month-long series of missions, which comprised numerous expeditions to entice more and more tourists.

According to the statement, most of the roads along the LAC have never been traveled by people due to the inaccessibility of the locations. The endeavor reached 11 locations along the LAC, with the summit of Mt. Jonsong—located at the triangular intersection of India, Nepal, and Tibet—being the most notable. This was only the third time in human history that this had happened.

The campaign "created a buzz in the adventure tourism circuit and has improved awareness about the potential of adventure tourism in North-East India," according to a press release.
